A nation-wide bank strike has been called on September 26 and 27 by four associations of bank officers against the merger of the nationalised banks. The strike call was given by the All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC), Indian National Bank Officers’ Congress (INBOC) and National Organisation of Bank Officers (NOBO). The associations are also opposing delayed pay hike, which is being said to have remained suspended since 2012.
Earlier, the bankers’ wage increase offer from the proposed 10 per cent had been denied. The associations have said that the ATMs however, will function normally on these days.
