Watch video: “Women have moustaches too”: razor brand raises awareness on men’s health through no-shave November

A razor brand, Billie, is encouraging women to take part in Movember, a movement in which every November men stop shaving.

Billie is asking women to join, and the company is hoping to be the first “female-first company” to start raising money for Movember, a global charity that raises money to bring awareness on prostate cancer. It challenges men to grow moustaches and to donate to the cause.

Billie is saying: “Newsflash: women have moustaches. We’ve been trained to hide them – wax them, bleach them, shave them – but that doesn’t make them any less real. ‘Fuzzy and faint or dark and dazzling, they’re there. So this Movember, we’re growing out our (formerly) top-secret upper lip hair. ‘We’re a brand built for womankind. But we’re thrilled to support the men in our lives – we’re matching 100% of contributions made to our team…”

“Movember” – which is often called “No-shave November”, is about raising awareness on men’s health issues. The video shows women talking about the extent to which they go to get rid of their facial hair and they say “women have moustaches too”.

It is thus serves the twin purpose of gender equality and men’s health issues by including women in it.
