CAA-NRC protest: Mamata Banerjee to hold public meetings on Dec 19 & 20

After three mega rallies in Kolkata – the third one being held today from Howrah to Dalhousie – Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee will hold two public meetings protesting Citizenship Amendment Act and National Register of Citizens.

The two rallies will be held on Rani Rashmoni Road and Park Circus Maidan on December 19 and 20 respectively.

Banerjee held the first rally from Red Road to Jorasanko on Monday, a second one from Jadavpur 8 B bus stand to Bhawanipore on Tuesday, and the third rally is taking place from Howrah to Dalhousie today.

The West Bengal chief minister has opposed to CAA and NRC and announced that these can take place in the state “only over my dead body”.

Banerjee has said that the protests against CAA and NRC should be peaceful and people should build up a movement all over the country.

She said that already chief ministers of various states had started to voice their protest against the implementation of the CAA and NRC.
