Kolkata woke up to a chilly morning today for the third consecutive day, and the minimum temperature has been in and around 11°C for the past few days.
The minimum temperature tomorrow may drop to 10°C or below. Despite being sunny, temperature has been lower than usual with cool breeze blowing.
Similar conditions are likely to prevail for the rest of the week according to the weather office. A fall in 1-3°C is predicted in south Bengal over the next two days along with shallow to moderate fog formation at places. There may be cold waves in parts of Purulia, Bankura, West and East Burdwan, Birbhum and Murshidabad. The districts of north Bengal are likely to experience dense fog over the next two days.
Night temperatures are predicted to remain 2-4°C below normal for the next two-three days. The days will be cold. The minimum temperature till Sunday will vary between 13-14°C while the maximum will remain between 23-24°C.
However, this may not last for very long, or even until Christmas. Minimum temperature may again rise right before Christmas Day, officials said.
