IAS officer Binod Kumar has been appointed as the new Municipal Commissioner of Kolkata Municipal Corporation. He replaced Khalil Ahmed who was holding additional charge as Municipal Commissioner apart from being the principal secretary of the municipal affairs and urban development department.

Binod Kumar was secretary of secretary of minority affairs and sports and youth affairs departments. Rajesh Sinha is now in charge of sports and youth affairs department apart from the tribal welfare department. Golam Ansari is now in charge of the minority affairs department. He was secretary of public health engineering department apart from being commissioner of the Burdwan division. He will, however, continue in both positions.
