Abhishek Banerjee files defamation case against Suvendu Adhikari

Banerjee alleged that Adhikary has been using "foul language" against publicly.

Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee has filed a defamation case against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Suvendu Adhikari in Burdwan Court on Thursday. The allegation against Adhikary is about making offensive remarks against the Trinamool MP.

According to Trinamool leaders, Adhikary used “one sentence after another” against Abhishek Banerjee and badmouthing him since he joined the BJP in various public meetings. They also accused the BJP leader of making “offensive” comments targeting Banerjee several times.

The Trinamool MP’s lawyer said that a notice was sent to Suvendu Adhikary to withdraw the remarks but the BJP leader had not reacted to it. Abhishek Banerjee then filed a case in the court. According to a Trinamool leader, “BJP leaders have no impact and so they are attacking the Trinamool Congress with foul language. People have witnessed everything.”

BJP’s Burdwan district president Sandeep Nandi said, “There is a law, so a case has been filed. The people of Bengal will have their say in the Assembly elections.”
