Suvendu Adhikary in Delhi, calls on Home Minister Amit Shah
Meeting may be to work out strategies for the state's Budget Session from tomorrow.
Suvendu Adhikary, the leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly, went to Delhi on Thursday and called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from West Bengal is also expected to call on the party’s national chief JP Nadda.
With the Budget Session of the Bengal Assembly scheduled to start from Friday, it is being speculated that the Leader of Opposition is in Delhi to plan ahead on issues to raise in the coming session. The National Human Rights Commission teams were in Bengal last week and have received complaints from people alleging post-poll violence. The BJP has been raising the issue since the conclusion of Assembly election in the state and the formation of the new government. Adhikary and Shah may have met to work out strategies to be placed in the session.
Adhikary was in Delhi on June 9 when he called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During this visit, Adhikary also met other senior BJP leaders including Shah and Nadda.
Asked about Adhikary’s visit, Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh said that he was not aware of the meeting, but as Leader of Opposition, he may have some work in Delhi, as the state Assembly session is to start from Friday.
