Anuj Sharma back as Kolkata CP, Gyanwant Singh Salt Lake commissioner again

With the lifting of the Election Commission’s model code of conduct on May 26, the West Bengal government issued orders to reinstate officers who had been transferred by the EC in the run up to the Lok Sabha polls.

Anuj Sharma was posted as the Kolkata Police commissioner and Gyanwant Singh as the Salt Lake commissioner again. In addition, Rajeev Kumar was posted back as the chief of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Kumar had been transferred from the post and attached to the Ministry of Home Affairs by the Election Commission.

The present Kolkata CP Rajesh Kumar and Salt Lake police commissioner N Rameshbabu were placed on compulsory waiting by the state government.

Other transfers include changing the Barrackpore police commissioner Sunil Chowdhury, and putting DP Singh in his place. Abhishek Gupta was appointed the Cooch Behar CP and Shyam Singh the superintendent of Birbhum.
