Bengal during COVID-19: 40% poverty reduction, 40% increase in employment, says Mamata Banerjee
Bengal will do better in industry in the coming days, says Banerjee.
Despite job cuts across the country during the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been an increase in employment in Bengal by 40 per cent, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee said today. She was speaking at a programme for the foundation stone laying of a polyfilm factory in Panagarh Industrial Park of Burdwan.
Banerjee added that poverty reduction too had been 40 per cent in Bengal during this time. According to the Bengal CM, the state has to reach the top position in industry like it had done well in social welfare programmes.
The West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation Limited (WBIDCL) is setting up a modern Industrial Park over 1,458 acres at Panagarh in Burdwan district.
