Bengal Governor to attend Durga Puja carnival on Red Road on Mamata Banerjee’s invitation

West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar will attend the Durga Puja carnival on Red Road on October 11, following an invitation from chief minister Mamata Banerjee.

Banerjee had sent out a personal invite to the Governor and reportedly explained to him the significance and richness of the carnival and the festivity. She is learnt to have spoken with the Governor on the important role that the carnival plays in showcasing Bengal’s rich heritage before the world.

A separate stage is being made for the Governor on Red Road. Another stage is being set up for the CM. Over 4,000 VVIPs and another 15,000 seats have been arranged for the invited along Red Road. Nearly 80 puja committees with three tableaux each will participate in the grand celebration on Friday.

Invitations have been sent to consulates and top officers, industrialists, actors and artistes in the state.
