Bengal minister attacked in blast: possible use of IED, ‘Z’ category security for Zakir Hossain
The CM has said that it was a planned attack.
Investigating teams probing the attack on West Bengal minister Zakir Hossain at Nimtita railway station in Murshidabad, came across a severed finger at a height of 14 feet and 60 feet away from the blast site on Friday. This indicated that the explosive used could have been an improvised explosive device (IED).
State and Central forensic experts who scanned the site also found splinter traces, an iron bar and a battery used in two wheelers, and an electric circuit around 100 metres away. The state government decided to provide Z category security to the injured minister of state. According to the reports the minister is stable along with 26 others who were injured along with him in the same incident.
Hossain was severely injured on Wednesday night at around 9.45 PM in an attack with bombs at Nimtita railway station in Murshidabad district. Chief minister Mamata Banerjee has said that this was a planned attack and a conspiracy to kill the minister.
