Bengal minister files FIR against CBI in Kolkata

Lockdown rules flouted?

West Bengal minister Chandrima Bhattacharya has lodged a first information report (FIR) with the Kolkata Police against the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Bhattacharya has lodged the complaint under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and for flouting lockdown rules.

There is strict lockdown across Bengal that has been imposed since Sunday. However, on Monday morning, Bengal ministers Subrata Mukherjee and Firhad Hakim and Trinamool MLA Madan Mitra and former Kolkata Mayor Sovon Chatterjee were arrested from their homes by the CBI and taken to the Central agency’s office at Nizam Palace. Later, Chandrima Bhattacharya had written a letter to Kolkata Police Commissioner Soumen Mitra.

The letter was forwarded by Mitra to Gariahat police station as Bhattacharya lives in the area. An FIR has been lodged in the police station accordingly.
