Bengal minister Subrata Mukherjee passes away at 75
He has been in Bengal politics for over five decades.
Senior Trinamool Congress leader, West Bengal panchayat minister Subrata Mukherjee passed away at the state-run SSKM Hospital today. He was 75.
He was shifted to the ICU of the hospital last week after he complained of severe breathing problems. However, he had recovered well, and was to be released from the hospital tomorrow. In the evening, he had complained of breathing distress and passed away at around 9.30 pm.
Mukherjee was born on June 14, 1946. He was a popular students’ leader and a senior Congress leader close to Priya Ranjan Das Munshi. He later joined the Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee. Mukherjee was also Kolkata’s Mayor.
