He is facing probe in connection with cattle smuggling case.
Trinamool Congress’ Birbhum district chief Anubrata Mondal was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officers for over four hours on Thursday at the agency’s Nizam Palace office in Kolkata.
After the questioning, he headed straight to the SSKM Hospital, where his vehicle first stopped outside the Emergency enclosure, and then went to the Woodburn block. It is not clear whether Mondal had an appointment with doctors earlier or if he started feeling unwell during the questioning.
The Trinamool’s Birbhum chief is facing probe in connection with a case on cattle smuggling. Mondal was asked by the CBI to be present for questioning in April this year, but his lawyers had informed the Central probe agency that he was unwell. He was admitted to the SSKM’s Woodburn block for several days, and after he was discharged from hospital, he was reportedly advised rest for four weeks. On Thursday, Mondal had reportedly himself informed the CBI authorities that he would be present to face the questioning.
