BJP manifesto: CAA implementation, free education, reservation for women in state jobs & more

The manifesto was released by Amit Shah in Kolkata today.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah released on Sunday in Kolkata the Bharatiya Janata Party’s manifesto for the coming Assembly elections.

One of the major highlights is the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the 7th pay commission in the state. There is also 33 per cent reservation for women in state government jobs mentioned in the list of promises. While releasing the manifesto, Shah said that refugees who have been staying in Bengal for 70 years will be given citizenship and each refugee family will get Rs 10,000 per year for five years. The manifesto also promised to provide free education for women from kindergarten to the postgraduate level.

The manifesto also mentions several benefits of Central government schemes, which would be implemented for the people of Bengal. And there is also the promise of Janata canteens, which would provide nutritious food at Rs 5.

The highlights of the manifesto are:

         Seventh pay commission implementation

         33 per cent reservation for women in state government jobs

         CAA will be cleared for implementation in the first cabinet

         All women will be given free education

         Free travel for women in public transport

         Uttar Banga, Jangalmahal and the Sunderbans to get 3 AIIMS

         Widows will get pension of Rs 3,000

         Bengali will be made official language, especially in government service

         A proper pay structure for para-teachers

         Netaji Expressway from Kolkata to Siliguri

         Bagdogra Airport will get international status

         Reservation for OBCs

         Canteens with meal at Rs 5
