BJP to hold national-level meeting soon to discuss Bengal’s law and order situation

The current law and order situation in West Bengal under the rule of the Trinamool Congress will be discussed threadbare at a special national-level meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), where MPs of other states will also be present.

Four of 18 MPs from Bengal will speak at the meeting in order to preset the current scenario in Bengal. The names of the MPs, time and venue of the meeting are yet to be decided.

The central leadership of the BJP has informed the Bengal MPs about the meeting and asked them to finalise the names of speakers. Such a meeting in presence of all-India MPs where just a single state will be discussed, is unprecedented.

Sources said this meeting is being viewed by many as a preparation for the 2021 Assembly elections in Bengal. After winning 18 Lok Sabha seats the party is determined to capture power in Bengal in 2021.

“Deteriorating law and order situation” in Bengal will be one of the main issues to be discussed in detail. The other issues include health and education sectors.

Speakers are likely to draw attention to the fact that a number of BJP leaders and workers have been murdered in the state and Central schemes are not being implemented here.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are said to be taking keen interest in the upcoming meeting and the central leadership is getting familiar with the BJP MPs from Bengal and the issues of main concern to the people of the state.
