Results of three Assembly seats – where byelections were held on September 30 – will be out today. These three seats are Bhawanipore, Samsergunj and Jangipur.
Counting began at 8 am today. After counting of the initial rounds were completed, Trinamool Congress is leading in all three.
In Bhawanipore, Trinamool candidate Mamata Banerjee is leading by nearly 3,000 votes. In Samsergunj, Trinamool candidate Amirul Islam is leading and in Jangipur, Trinamool candidate Zakir Hossain is leading. There will be 26 rounds of counting in Jangipur and 24 rounds in Samsergunj, while in Bhawanipore 21 rounds will be counted.
