The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday conducted raids in several locations of Kolkata in connection with the ongoing probe into cattle smuggling. The search operations started early on Thursday morning in multiple locations of the city.
Offices and houses of two chartered accountants were searched as part of the probe. The CBI probe in connection with cattle smuggling is part of an ongoing investigation for which a former officer of the Border Security Force (BSF) and three others had been booked in September this year. Cattle is smuggled along the India-Bangladesh border with the alleged backing of some state, Central government officers.
Earlier several locations in Kolkata, Murshidabad of West Bengal, Ghaziabad of Uttar Pradesh, Amritsar in Punjab and Raipur in Chhattisgarh were also raided in this connection.
