CBI reaches Abhishek Banerjee’s Bhawanipore home to question his wife Rujira
An 8-member team reached their house.
An eight-member team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) reached the house of Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee’s house in Bhawanipore today in connection with an alleged coal smuggling probe. The team is likely to question Banerjee’s wife Rujira.
Abhishek Banerjee is scheduled to be in Tripura today where he is to lead a roadshow. West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee will leave Kolkata for Delhi today where she has a meeting scheduled with Opposition party leaders tomorrow at 2 pm.
A CBI team had earlier questioned Rujira Banerjee at her and Abhishek Banerjee’s Bhawanipore residence. Subsequently, the Enforcement Directorate asked her to be present in the agency’s Delhi office. But she had written to the agency authorities telling them about her inconvenience. Abhishek Banerjee himself however had been to Delhi to face Central probe agency’s questioning. Trinamool Congress has been alleging that the Centre is using the probe agencies against Opposition party leaders. He and his wife had moved court asking the agency’s officers to question them in Kolkata. The court then had asked the ED to question them in Kolkata.
