Chandernagore police chief transferred after Trinamool leader’s murder
The police commissioner of Chandernagore in Bengal’s Hooghly district was transferred on Monday following the murder of Trinamool Congress leader Dilip Ram.
Ram had been murdered on Saturday at Bandel station and it is being said that a section of the Trinamool Congress leadership was upset with the CP Akhilesh Chaturvedi for not being able to round up the murderers immediately. Despite two days, no one had been arrested in connection with the murder.
Humayun Kabir, Kolkata Police’s DIG (Traffic) was appointed the new Chandernagore police commissioner. Akhilesh Chaturvedi was posted as joint commissioner of police (administration) in Kolkata Police.
On Sunday itself, the inspector-in-charge of Chandernagore, Nirupam Ghosh and another officer were transferred.
