Comparing Mamata Banerjee to Dhritarashtra, Tripura chief minister says that BJP will win Lok Sabha elections

Known for ill-considered remarks and allusions to Indian epics like the Mahabharata, Tripura chief minister Biplab Deb, has likened Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee to Dhritarashtra – the father of a hundred sons, the Kauravas, who met their match in the five brothers, Pandavas.

Accusing the West Bengal chief minister of turning a blind eye to the ‘syndicate raj’ and the ‘terror raj’ that had descended upon the state, he said that ‘the soil will not tolerate such things’.

Addressing a rally at Arambagh in West Bengal’s Hoogly district, the Tripura chief minister launched a three-pronged attack against the ruling regime in the state. The other BJP leaders holding rallies in the state before elections include Amit Shah and Giriraj Singh of the BJP.

Referring to the mahagathbandhan against the BJP, Biplab Deb stated that ‘thieves’ and been ‘invited’ into the state. He further added that the state administration was ‘digging its own grave’. Claiming that Dhritarashtra’s Kauravas would lose to the Pandavas in 2019, the Tripura CM known for his frequent allusions to the epics for tales of internet and satellites, likened Mamata Banerjee to the blind king.

Calling Bengal  a ‘syndicate state’, the Tripura CM said that the people of the state would ‘lose their fear’ soon. Dismissing the Trinamool Congress as a ‘xerox copy’ (photocopy) of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Deb stated that West Bengal sought the leadership of the “original”, Narendra Modi’.
