COVID-19: Bengal food minister Jyotipriya Mullick tests positive, admitted to hospital

West Bengal food minister Jyotipriya Mullick has tested positive for COVID-19. He has been admitted to a private hospital off the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass in Kolkata.

The senior leader of the Trinamool Congress complained of fever and developed some other symptoms of COVID-19 and got himself tested. He was admitted to the hospital as doctors suggested that he should not remain in home isolation.

Several Trinamool Congress leaders have tested positive for COVID-19 earlier. Senior party leader and Falta MLA Tamonash Ghosh died from COVID. He fought for life for over a month. Another Trinamool Congress MLA – the public representative from Egra – Samaresh Das died in August. Some Trinamool leaders have recovered too, including state fire services minister Sujit Basu.
