The COVID-19 situation in West Bengal appears to be improving as the discharge rate is increasing every day now, and reached 76.51 per cent on Thursday. So far, 98,789 patients have been treated and discharged across the state.
There were 35,059 tests done on a single day – on Friday. Out of this, 3,197 have tested positive. Till now, 14,51,615 COVID-19 tests have been done in the state. There has been 2,634 deaths so far, with 53 deaths taking place in the past 24 hours.
The number of patients getting treated and discharged is increasing every day and the percentage has remained unaffected even though the number of those testing positive per day is rising. Officials say that if the same trend continues and the discharge rate crosses 80 per cent over the next few days, the situation would be well under control.
Over 35,000 tests are being conducted across the state every day now, and the number of positive cases increasing is primarily due to that, say officials of the state health department. There were 3,197 positive cases reported in the past 24 hours. So far, 1,29,119 COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in West Bengal so far, and currently there are 27,696 active cases in the state.
