The number of containment zones in Kolkata increased to 326 on Saturday from the earlier 319 zones reported on Friday. Containment zones in North 24 Parganas remained the same at 92. On Wednesday, there were 85 containment zones in this district.
In Howrah, the number of such zones is 76, and in South 24 Parganas it is 30 (which increased from the earlier 22 reported on Wednesday). Containment zones in West Midnapore remained the same at six. Earlier this week, there were seven zones here. The number of containment zones in East Midnapore increased to eight from earlier this week.
Hooghly reported 23 such zones on Saturday, and three were identified in Malda district. Two zones were reported in Darjeeling and one each in Kalimpong and Jalpaiguri. Two containment zones were identified in Nadia district.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in Bengal is 1,786 now with 108 cases reported in the last 24 hours on Saturday. The number of active COVID-19 cases in Bengal is 1,243. So far, 372 have been discharged in Bengal after recovering of whom 49 were discharged in the last one day. Eleven patients have died from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the toll in the state to 99. The number of deaths of COVID-19 patients who died from co-morbidities as mentioned by the state stands at 72.
So far, 39,368 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in Bengal with 3,601 tests done in last 24 hours.
