COVID-19 in Bengal: Over 4 lakh tests done so far, discharge rate nearly 60%

The total number of samples for Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) tested in West Bengal has now crossed 4 lakh. The total number till June 21 was 4,01,491. There were 10,549 tests conducted on June 21.

There are almost 10,000 samples being tests across the state on an average every day. The tests are being conducted in 49 centres, and another one is awaiting Central government approval.

There has also been a steady increase in the discharge rate of patients in Bengal, with the percentage increasing from below 50 per cent to nearly 60 per cent within 10 days. So far, 8,297 persons have been discharged after being treated for COVID-19, and out of this, 432 were discharged in the last 24 hours. The number of active COVID-19 cases in Bengal is currently 5,093 and the total number of cases till June 21 was recorded at 13,945.
