India has recorded a huge increase in its daily Covid count, with 2,183 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours. This is a jump of 89.9 per cent from yesterday’s 1,150 cases. Altogether, 214 deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours (however, this includes Kerala’s backlog of 62 deaths following court appeals).

The country’s daily positivity rate has also increased from 0.31 per cent yesterday to 0.83 per cent today. The number of active cases however, has come down marginally. National capital Delhi has witnessed huge increase in the number of cases over the past few days.
