Didikebolo: talk to Mamata Banerjee & her team directly as Trinamool Congress launches phone number and website for closer people connect
The Trinamool Congress is changing. Is it becoming corporatised? Answering a question Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee today said in Kolkata that her party was being modernised.
The party today launched a website (www.didikebolo.com) and unveiled a phone number (9137091370) for people to call her team directly and tell them about their grievances. The campaign and the website is being called Didi ke bolo or talk to Didi, Mamata Banerjee.
Banerjee today also said that a programme was being initiated for the next 100 days that will include a thousand of her party’s leaders and public representatives. These leaders will be allotted villages which they will visit and if required stay at night, eat with the people and listen to their problems in order to bring out solutions.
The party, after its poor show in the Lok Sabha polls, has appointed poll strategist Prashant Kishor for a turnaround with an eye on 2021 Assembly elections. Right after Kishor took charge, there have been both big and small changes in the party and in the way the party chief Mamata Banerjee has been openly criticising some of her party’s policies, leaders and the disconnect with people.
Following the announcement and the unveiling of a new party logo in Bengali, the party chief went to a closed door meeting at Nazrul Mancha where she and Kishor were to talk to party members.
Interestingly, Banerjee was perhaps for the first time, reading out from a sheet of paper during the press conference. The Trinamool Congress chief said that it was not a makeover for making the party “corporate” but more of making changes in order to make it “modern”.
