Dinesh Trivedi & Rathin Chakraborty to head BJP committees for coming Kolkata & Howrah civic body polls
Both were earlier with Trinamool Congress.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday formed committees to plan for the party’s course of action in the coming civic body polls in Kolkata and Howrah.
Former Trinamool Congress MP Dinesh Trivedi, who had switched over to the BJP prior to the Assembly polls earlier this year, is heading the committee for Kolkata. Another former Trinamool Congress leader who is now with the BJP – Rathin Chakraborty will be in charge of the party’s activities for Howrah for the coming civic body polls.
There have been discontent among BJP workers for not giving bigger responsibilities of the party to those who have been earlier with Trinamool Congress. But Wednesday’s decision indicates that the top leaders of the party have still chosen former Trinamool leaders yet again.
Tushar Kanti Ghosh, Rudranil Ghosh, Vijay Ojha and Vaishali Dalmiya will be part of the Kolkata committee. Among them, only Tushar Kanti Ghosh has been with the BJP from the start and the others are all from Trinamool Congress. Arjun Singh – also a former Trinamool leader now with the BJP – will be the party’s observer for Kolkata civic polls, among others.
The Howrah committee has Manoj Pandey and Supriti Chattopadhyay in addition to Rathin Chakraborty. Manoj Pandey was earlier with Congress and Supriti Chattopadhyay was with Trinamool Congress earlier.
