ED summons Trinamool’s Vivek Gupta, candidate from Kolkata’s Jorasanko
Several Trinamool candidates have been summoned by Central probe agencies in recent times.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday summoned Vivek Gupta, Trinamool Congress candidate from Jorasanko assembly constituency in connection with the Saradha chit fund probe. Gupta has been asked to appear before ED by March 23.
Several Trinamool Congress candidates have been summoned by central government agencies recently. Trinamool’s Kamarhati candidate Madan Mitra is scheduled to appear before ED on March 19. Trinamool spokesperson and former Rajya Sabha MP, Kunal Ghosh, was recently questioned twice by the ED in connection with the same case. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been vocal about central agencies for harassing her candidates ahead of the Assembly elections which start on March 27 and continue till April 29.
State education minister and Trinamool Congress secretary general Partha Chatterjee has also been summoned by CBI in connection with the ICore chit fund probe. Chatterjee is the Trinamool candidate in Behala West Assembly constituency.
