The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has called him in connection with the investigation of the Narada tapes. In the videos recorded by journalist Matthew Samuel, individuals who looked like Sovon Chatterjee, Mukul Roy, Firhad Hakim, IPS officer SMH Mirza and many others, were seen discussing receiving cash from a journalist who posed as a person with business interests in the state.

Chatterjee and Mukul Roy – both with the Trinamool Congress then – have now joined the BJP. They were both top Trinamool leaders, said to be closest aides of party chief and Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee.

Chatterjee has been questioned in the Narada case earlier as well. He has now been asked to report to the CBI authorities on August 31.

BJP state chief Dilip Ghosh said that being called by the CBI didn’t mean that Sovon Chatterjee was guilty.
