There are possibilities of medium to heavy rains to be experienced by Kolkata and adjacent areas. Though the depression created over the Bay of Bengal on Tuesday had taken a north-western turn by Wednesday, Kolkata and surrounding areas experienced light to medium amounts of rainfall. Weather forecasts have predicted the continuation of rains for this entire week in Kolkata and few surrounding places.

The depression was created along the West Bengal-Orissa border on Tuesday as a result of which coastal areas have been cautioned against turbulences. The Met office has notified that due to the westward movement of the depression, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh have chances of experiencing very heavy rainfalls.
