Heavy to moderate rain in Kolkata brings relief after gruelling heat

While heavy rain lashed in Salt Lake, Tangra along with wind, several parts of Kolkata like Camac Street, Chittaranjan Avenue enjoyed moderate rainfall. It also rained in Howrah, Nadia, North and South 24 Parganas.

The rain brought relief to unbearable heatwave even after monsoon arrived on June 11. The regional meteorological department, Alipore however, warned that the mercury will shoot up once the rain stops. But the heat is likely to come down from Thursday afternoon.
