West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi today. Dhankhar himself tweeted this during the day. There are talks that the discussions have been on the Rampurhat massacre that has been at the centre of the state’s politics for the past few days. Neither Shah nor Dhankhar however, spoke on what the meeting was about.
During the day, Trinamool and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators clashed inside the West Bengal Assembly over the Rampurhat incident, that led to several injuries. Five BJP MLAs, including Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, were suspended for a year for the ruckus.
Later, Adhikari went to a private hospital off the EM Bypass in Kolkata, and alleged that BJP MLAs were not being admitted though they had sustained injuries. “We will take them to Delhi for treatment and inform the Union health minister about it,” Adhikari said. He added that he will also call on the Governor as soon as he returns to the city. “The state has put pressure on the private hospital and they are thus refusing to admit our MLAs,” Adhikari alleged.
