Kolkata businessman kidnapped, rescued

Qutubuddin Gazi was rescued within 24 hours.

Kolkata Police on Thursday rescued a businessman after he was allegedly kidnapped in Kolkata on Wednesday. Qutubuddin Gazi, a 37-year-old, who is in the sand and raw material supplying business, was allegedly picked up by unknown people from his office in Kasba’s Chakraborty Para at around 1 pm on Wednesday. His friend had reported the matter to Kasba police station.

Gazi’s family members have told the police that they received a ransom call later who identified themselves as police. CCTV footage of the area was scanned and all police stations of the surrounding area were alerted. On Wednesday night, senior officers of Kolkata Police held search operations and Gazi was rescued. It was found that the vehicle had moved towards Tollygunge after picking up Gazi. The location was traced by tracking the ransom call, and negotiating with the kidnappers in the disguise of a family friend.

Gazi was rescued and several persons were arrested. The others are being tracked. Two vehicles used in the crime were seized. One of them had used a police sticker.
