Kolkata International Film Festival inauguration: Shah Rukh Khan regrets not getting national award

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan on Saturday regretted that he has never received the national award and neither had his films been part of any film festivals such as the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF).

At the inauguration of the 24th KIFF, Khan said he is always usually invited to all the festivals for dancing or talking or welcoming guests, but never for intellectual discussions.

He said that being in Kolkata, with the Kolkata Knight Riders for the last 12 years has made him “smarter” and more “intellectual”. Even spending time with the stalwarts of Indian cinema in Bengal and other people has made him more intelligent and smarter, he said. The trailer of his upcoming film, Zero, was screened at the inauguration.

The KIFF was inaugurated by Amitabh Bachchan, who called for the preservation of old films for the future generation.
