All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee, a Left-backed farmers’ body will organise a march to Raj Bhawan, Kolkata, on December 16 to protest the Centre’s new farm laws and to express solidarity with the farmers protesting it close to Delhi.
The committee has been organising rallies across West Bengal to inform the people in the state about atrocities on farmers in Delhi. “We have a series of programmes throughout December, including the march to Raj Bhawan to protest the new farm laws and the way the farmers were treated during the protest,” Amal Haldar, state convenor of the committee said.
There will be a public meeting on Rani Rashmoni Avenue and from there, the organisation will go to the governor to submit a deputation. The new farm laws will impact farmers all over the country, including those in Bengal, he said.
Meanwhile, the Congress too in West Bengal will take to the streets on the price rise issue with a programme called Bajare Bajare (in the markets). Adhir Chowdhury, the state party chief, has asked workers to organise rallies and meetings in all district towns from Thursday. On December 9, Congress workers will submit deputations at district headquarters on the issue.
