West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday inaugurated several Durga Pujas from across the state virtually from the state administrative headquarters Nabanna. Later, she also visited the Ahiritola Sarbojanin Durgotsav in person.
Every year, Banerjee inaugurates several Durga Pujas, herself visiting pandals. However, this time due to COVID-19, these visits have not taken place and Banerjee is visiting very few pandals. This time, Nabanna sources said that she is focusing more on on virtual inaugurations. “This is also to pass on the message that people must avoid crowding pandals and it is possible to participate in pujas virtually,” said an official.
