Meera Sanyal, banker turned politician, dies at 57
Meera H. Sanyal, banker turned politician, died on Friday evening in Mumbai after a battle with cancer. She was 57.
Sanyal was one of the country’s most respected bankers. She stepped down from her role as CEO and chairperson of Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) India in December 2013 to enter public service. Thereafter, she joined the Aam Aadmi Party and was a member of the National Executive Committee of the party.
Her book, The Big Reverse, on the impact of demonetisation on the Indian economy, was published two months ago.
