Moderate to heavy rainfall predicted till Sunday in Kolkata & rest of south Bengal

The Kolkata sky on Wednesday was clear, but as the day progressed, there was rainfall in several parts of the city. The Alipore weather office authorities said there may be heavy rains in parts of the city over the next few days.

Heavy rainfall with thunderstorm has been predicted for the North and South 24 Parganas and Howarh as well. Light to medium precipitation has been predicted for South 24 Parganas and parts of south Kolkata. West Midnapore, Jhargram and parts of south Bengal are expected to receive rainfall starting from tomorrow.

The monsoons were said to have left Bengal on October 15. It was said that the south-west monsoon winds have given way to the north-east monsoon, which is also called as “return monsoon” in India. The return monsoon is known to cause heavy rainfall in large parts of southern India including Andhra Pradesh.

The weather office has said that the north-east monsoon will have its impact felt from Thursday and will cause increased rainfall in Andhra Pradesh and adjoining areas. The Indian Meterological Department has predicted clear skies for tomorrow, but has predicted cloudy skies with moderate rainfall with thunderstorms till Sunday starting from Friday.
