Nandigram: communal harmony may be disrupted, Dibyendu Adhikari writes to DM

Nandigram falls under Tamluk of which Dibyendu Adhikari is the MP.

Expressing concern that communal harmony in Nandigram may be affected after the voting process is over, Lok Sabha Trinamool Congress MP of Tamluk, Didyendu Adhikari, has written to the district magistrate of East Midnapore Sumita Pandey. Dibyendu Adhikari is the younger brother of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate of Nandigram, Suvendu Adhikari, who is contesting against Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee.

Nandigram falls under the Lok Sabha constituency of Tamluk, and this justifies his concern as the local MP.

The letter thanks the DM, who is also the district election officer, and asks the officer to take all precautionary measures so that peace and harmony in the area prevails.

The letter says: “Considering the present political situation in the area, I personally apprehend that the existing communal harmony may be blatantly disrupted, resulting in complete ruin in normal, peaceful living of the people residing here.”

Of the 30 seats for which voting took place on Thursday, Nandigram was one of the most sensitive constituencies from where Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee is contesting against her one-time aide now BJP candidate Suvendu Adhikary. The letter was written within a few hours of the polling process coming to an end on the day.
