The Calcutta High Court has scheduled the hearing for bail plea for four senior leaders from West Bengal – including two ministers in the Mamata Banerjee cabinet – on Friday. This includes ministers Firhad Hakim and Subrata Mukherjee, Trinamool Congress MLA Madan Mitra and former Kolkata Mayor Sovon Chatterjee.
All four are currently under “house arrest” as per the last order of the High Court. Currently, the appeal is being heard by a five-judge bench of the High Court.
The matter was taken to the Supreme Court by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) earlier this week, but the apex court preferred the matter to be heard by the Calcutta High Court.
