One dead in North Bengal Medical College & Hospital fire

One person died as the critical care unit of North Bengal Medical College & Hospital in Siliguri caught fire at around 5 am on Friday morning. Ten patients were admitted in the CCU when the fire broke out.

Firefighters rushed to rescue the patients.

One patient allegedly died and ten had to be shifted to a private hospital. The smoke from the fire led to the death, it was reported. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and a probe has started. A number of patients were reported to be under trauma due to the fire.

Minister from north Bengal, Goutam Deb said that the hospital has a good fire extinguishing system. He added that a probe will be carried out to find the exact cause behind the fire.
