The night temperature over the next two to three days will drop by 2-3°C in Kolkata and adjoining areas, officials of the Alipore Meteorological department said. The cyclonic circulation which caused rainfall in Kolkata and parts of West Bengal for the past three days is slowly moving away towards the north-east. Thus the sky will become clear from Thursday.
As the cloud cover subsides, night temperature on Thursday and Friday will drop and the temperature is likely to remain around 17-18°C. Day temperature on these two days will also remain slightly lower than usual – the day temperature from Thursday to Sunday has been predicted between 27- 29°C.
However, day and night temperature in the rest of the south Bengal will remain mostly normal. Alipurduar, Kalimpong, Cooch Behar and Jalpaiguri in north Bengal will experience fog on Friday morning.
Darjeeling and adjoining areas are likely to experience rain and snowfall in the next 48 hours. Officials said that a western disturbance is likely to enter the state shortly, but that will not lead to significant drop in temperature in the south Bengal. However, parts of north Bengal may experience chill due to the disturbance.
