Self Scan: Mamata Banerjee launches scanning app made by her govt, says it reflects patriotism

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday launched a free mobile application – “Self Scan” – which can scan documents over phone. The app can be a possible alternative to the “Cam scanner” – one of the 59 apps linked to China that has now been banned in India.

Banerjee said that Self Scan, the new mobile app prepared by the state government, reflects patriotism, and urged people to download, use it and to spread the word. She said she would always like to use apps prepared in the country.

“What Bengal thinks today, the others think tomorrow,” Banerjee said. She explained that the app is safe, free of cost and without any advertisements. It has been created by the IT department of West Bengal government. There are indications that more of such “swadeshi” apps will be created in the coming days.
