Sharad Pawar calls Opposition meet after talks with poll strategist Prashant Kishor
Plans to build Opposition for Mission 2024?
Sharad Pawar, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader, has called a meeting of Opposition political parties in New Delhi on Tuesday to explore the coming together of a group of leaders to take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP ahead of the next Lok Sabha elections.
Several political leaders have received invitations on behalf of Pawar and Trinamool Congress leader Yashwant Sinha (who was earlier Union minister of the Bharatiya Janata Party).
Pawar had a meeting earlier today with poll strategist Prashant Kishor in Delhi. They had a meeting on June 11 in Mumbai at Pawar’s home. All this has led to speculations that a plan is emerging for an anti-BJP led force for 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
There are talks on a joint opposition platform against Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance. With Kishor at the helm of Trinamool Congress’ poll campaign in Bengal that saw a landslide victory for Mamata Banerjee, there are talks of the example being replicated across the country.
