Sougata Roy, Babul Supriyo visit Goa for Trinamool’s Assembly polls mission 2022
Trinamool leaders visit Goa to lay the grounds for Mamata Banerjee's Oct 28 visit.
With Assembly elections of 2022 a major focus for the Trinamool Congress in Goa, the party’s senior leader Sougata Roy along with Babul Supriyo are visiting the state today to prepare for party supremo Mamata Banerjee’s October 28 visit.
After winning the Bengal state elections for the third time – in a landslide victory – Trinamool Congress is now focusing on expanding its presence in other states too. Among others this includes Tripura, and now Goa. Party MP Derek O’Brien is also expected to be present in Panaji along with Roy and Supriyo.
Trinamool is attacking the BJP government on the vaccine issue – alleging that a considerable population in Goa have not received the second dose yet. Other issues include drinking water problems, women’s safety, alleged deterioration of law and order and so on. Congress had won 17 out of the 40 Assembly seats in Goa in 2017 Assembly polls, while the BJP won 13. But the BJP formed the government after some Congress MLAs switched over, and currently BJP has 27 MLAs and Congress has five MLAs.
