State-run NRS Hospital to treat COVID-19 patients soon with 110-beds facility

NRS Medical College & Hospital will treat Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) patients soon.  A 110-bed facility is currently being prepared in the state-run hospital.

Currently, 80 hospitals are treating COVID-19 patients across the state, including 26 state-run hospitals. The rest are private hospitals. Altogether 10,939 beds have been earmarked for COVID-19 patients, with 948 ICU beds. There are 395 ventilators in the COVID-19 hospitals.

There are currently 341 persons in “safe homes” in the state, who have mild symptoms or are asymptomatic. There are 106 safe homes in Bengal, that includes 6,908 beds.

Apart from this, there are 4,033 people in 582 government quarantine centres. Over a lakh people have been discharged from government quarantine centres already. Currently, 24,303 persons are in home quarantine.

The total number of cases in West Bengal has reached 34,427 so far, with 1,589 new cases reported in the past 24 hours. The discharge rate is 60.06 per cent, a drop of six per cent within less than 10 days, as the total number of reported cases have rapidly increased in the last one week.
