Subhendu Adhikary calls on Assembly Speaker, resignation as MLA accepted

Subhendu Adhikary – who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday in presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah – called on the Speaker of West Bengal Assembly today to have a discussion on his resignation letter as MLA.

Speaker Biman Banerjee said that Adhikary had sent a resignation letter as MLA to him earlier, and he had some queries regarding the letter. Adhikary too said that the Speaker had sought a meeting following rules. He was asked whether the letter had been written by Adhikary himself and he had replied in the affirmative.

Following the discussion, Banerjee accepted the resignation and said that the MLA seat was being considered as vacant and it would be informed to the Election Commission accordingly.
