Realme P4R 5G Launched in India at Rs 18,999: 8,000 mAh Battery, 3-Day Life

The Bengal Story Bureau: Realme launched the P4R 5G in India on Wednesday, positioning the handset as a battery-endurance device in the competitive sub-Rs 20,000 segment. The phone goes on sale from June 17 on Flipkart and the Realme Store, with a starting price of Rs 18,999. A launch offer of Rs 2,000 brings the effective price down to Rs 16,999, though the discount is valid only for the first 12 hours of sale. Additional bank discounts of Rs 2,000 and no-cost EMI options are also available.

Battery and Build: The Core Proposition

The P4R 5G’s headline specification is its 8,000 mAh battery, which Realme claims delivers up to three days of use on a single charge. The company says the battery is rated to retain over 80 per cent of its health after seven years of use and up to 1,600 charging cycles.

The handset supports 45W wired fast charging, 27W reverse wired charging, and all-scenario bypass charging. Realme is also advertising a “One Tap Cooling” feature that it says can bring the device’s temperature down by 2°C in two minutes.

Despite the large battery cell, the P4R 5G measures 8.8 mm in thickness and weighs 224 g – a build profile Realme has emphasised to counter the perception that high-capacity battery phones are necessarily bulky.

Display, Processor and Cameras

The P4R 5G features a 6.8-inch LCD screen with HD+ resolution (1,570×720 pixels), a 144Hz refresh rate, and up to 1,200 nits of peak brightness. It carries a single linear speaker rated at up to 400 per cent volume.

Under the hood, the phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor, paired with up to 6 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The device runs Realme UI 7.0 based on Android 16.

For photography, the P4R 5G sports a dual-camera setup on the rear headlined by a 50MP primary sensor, with an 8MP front camera for selfies.

Variants, Colours and Availability

The P4R 5G comes in three storage configurations – 4GB/128GB, 6GB/128GB, and 6GB/256GB – and is available in Silver Glare, Titanium Glare, and Lavender Glare finishes. Sales open on Flipkart and the Realme Store on June 17.

Where It Fits in the Market

The P4R is the first ‘R’ branded model in Realme’s P4 lineup, which also includes the P4, P4 Pro, and P4 Power. Positioned at battery-anxious buyers in the Rs 17,000-19,000 range, it competes with the iQOO Z11x, Motorola Edge 70 Fusion, and Vivo T5x – a segment where battery size and 5G connectivity are the primary purchase triggers.

The HD+ LCD panel is the trade-off buyers will need to weigh against the large battery and slim chassis. Several competing devices at similar price points have shifted to AMOLED displays, and the resolution choice is likely to draw scrutiny from spec-conscious mid-range buyers.
