The Bengal Story Bureau: TVS Motor Company has expanded its electric two-wheeler portfolio with the launch of the new TVS Orbiter. Positioned as a practical solution for urban commuting, the electric scooter claims a segment-leading range of 158 km on a single charge, aiming to appeal to small families looking for a cost-effective and reliable daily rider.
Design and Practicality
The TVS Orbiter features a functional design language that prioritises rider comfort and utility. Unlike the sportier aesthetic of the brand’s existing iQube series, the Orbiter opts for a more utilitarian stance, featuring a flat floorboard and an extended seat to better accommodate a small family. The chassis has been engineered to handle city traffic with ease, while the handle-bar positioning is set for an upright, relaxed riding posture.
Performance and Range
At the core of the Orbiter is a high-density battery pack that company officials state is capable of delivering a real-world range of 158 km per charge. The vehicle is powered by an efficient electric motor designed for smooth acceleration in stop-and-go city traffic. TVS has integrated a new fast-charging architecture, allowing the battery to reach significant charge levels in under four hours using a standard home charger.

Features and Tech Integration
The scooter comes equipped with a digital console that provides essential ride metrics, including battery health, range prediction, and trip data. TVS has included its proprietary smart connectivity suite, which offers turn-by-turn navigation, vehicle diagnostics, and anti-theft alerts via a dedicated mobile application. Safety features include a combined braking system (CBS) and regenerative braking to extend battery life during descents or deceleration.
Market Positioning
With the rising demand for affordable electric mobility in India, the TVS Orbiter is expected to compete directly with mid-range offerings from brands like Ola and Ather. By focusing on high mileage and family-friendly ergonomics, TVS is targeting the segment of buyers who prioritise long-term savings and reliability over performance-oriented specifications. The company has announced that bookings are now open at all authorised dealerships, with deliveries scheduled to commence across major cities by the end of the month.
